Died Friday, July 24, 2009, at his home, Rock Island. He was born in Moline, on March 27, 1947, to John and Margaret (Coon) Schimmel. On July 30, 1966, in Coal Valley, Ill., he married Rosanne Martens, who preceded him in death. On April 20, 2001, in Rock Island, he married Connie Semotan, who survives. He graduated from Moline High School, and served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968. He was an electrician, working out of the IBEW Local #145 Union Hall for 33 years, retiring in 2003. He was an avid fan of Moline Basketball, the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago Bears, the Fighting Illini, and he enjoyed playing the game of golf.
