I didn't know Steve very well but I will always remember his amazing muscles. He abviously was a weight lifter. Him and Jim Mc Carthy were very fit and I think they  lifted together thus I'm not surprised that he was a fire fighter.  He always smiled and said hi when we passed in the hall. I'm sure he will be missed by his friends and family. Condolences to his family.

I remember Steve from John Deere and Moline High. I enjoyed visiting with him at the last class reunion we both attended. My condolances to the family. RIP Steve.

This one hit mt pretty hard.  Steve and I were particularly close at William Carr Grade School because year, except one, he sat directly behind me.  We would trade silent conversation, especially if we didn't know the answer.  All throughout John Deere and High School, Steve always acknowledged when we'd pass in the hallways.  I knew he was a firefighter and prayed for his safety.  I'm so sorry he didn't have long to enjoy his well-earned retirement.  Steve, you were a true gentle-man, and you will be missed. ------Marji Wenos Watkins

The wryest smile and the most devilish sense of humor. A truly great guy. May you RIP. Steve

I work part time at the Hy-Vee store on "Ave of the Cities" and Steve was just in the store 5 or 6 months back. I recognized him pretty quickly and we chatted for a git.  What I remember most about Steve was inspite of his size and reputaion, he was really a gentle guy.

I will echo Dana's comment about Steve being a gentle guy. We played next to each other on the sophomore football team, and he loved to hit people on the field. But off the field he was soft-spoken and fun to be around. I'm sorry to hear he is gone.

So sorry for his loss. I didn't know Steve as he was at the end of the alphabet. I don't think we had any classes together. I went to Washington Elementary and Coolidge/Wilson Junior High. I am praying for his family. We are losing so many classmates. I guess it's that time of our lives. RIP 🪦

Steve and I paths crossed while in the Navy and we shared a few stories. I visited Steve at the fire station in Moline before he moved to Florida.  Sorry to hear of his passing.

I remember Steve as a sort of gentle giant, one who had the gift of a magnetic smile--and shared it. Steve drew people to him, even now, as he's drawing memories of those who've had the privilege of knowing him. RIP ol' friend.

The picture captures the Steve I remember. Like Ralph and Dick Miller my time with Steve was mostly on the football field. What a great guy. These obits really remind me how fortunate we were to be part of the Class of '65. Wonderrful people. RIP Steve.
