Nancy Mary Joan Melody, 70, of Buncombe, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion.
Private family services were held. Riggin-Pillatsch & Burke Funeral Home in Carterville was in charge of arrangements.
Nancy was born on November 4, 1947, in Moline, to Alton Larkin and Mary Joan (Lockhart) Batson. She married Herbert Buller on August 13, 1971. He preceded her in death on July 22, 1979.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Kimberly (Pete) Sopczak of Goreville; the lights of her life, her grandchildren, Tyler (Kim) Sopczak of Hutsonville, Illinois, Lee Sopczak, Madison Sopczak, Payton Sopczak, and Ian Sopczak, all of Goreville; and great-grandchildren, Daniel and Braxton Sopczak.
Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, John Batson.
She worked as a medical transcriptionist at Conway Hospital in South Carolina before retiring.

I was married to Nancy's brother John. Nancy was a good friend as well as sister in law. Nancy worked all through high school at Italian Village in Moline. She had a a big smile and was a lot of fun to be around.RIP Nancy!
