Hi there. While messing around/snooping around on internet I came across your class of '65 website. My graduating class of '93 at Moline uses same site. Anyway,... My uncle, Don Bartell, passed away November 15, 2013.
Don was such a great guy! When we were in 6th grade at Horace Mann, I came down with Rheumatic Fever and was bedridden for the last 2 1/2 months of that school year. I only weighed 60 lbs, thank goodness, because I had to be carried to the pavilion at Riverside Park for our "Patrol Picnic". I couldn't participate in any of the races and other contests, but Don got a First Place Ribbon and gave it to me. RIP Old Friend!
