Funeral services for Jim L. Carpenter, 66, of Silvis, will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline.
 

Burial will be at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Carpenter died on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis. Memorials may be made to the Rock Island Conservation Club for the Kid's Fishing Derby.
 

Jim was born on Nov. 30, 1946, in Moline, the son of Cletus and Helen Grajewski Carpenter. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He retired from the former International Harvester, East Moline, in 2002, after 30 years of service.
 

Jim was an outgoing person. He was a Chicago Bears fan, a hunter and an avid fisherman. He enjoyed car racing, especially dirt track stock cars. He loved watching his grandchildren's sporting events.
 

Survivors include his soul mate and companion of many years, Peggy Werner, East Moline; daughter, Gretchen Carpenter, Moline; mother, Helen Carpenter, East Moline; sister, Judy (Donald) Jones, Moline; brother, Steve (Corinne) Carpenter, Carbon Cliff; sister-in-law, Judy Polek, Hampton; Peggy's children, Shelley (Jeff) Ketner, Silvis, Michael (Nikki) Werner, Colona, Matthew (Stephanie) Werner, Colona; eight grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father; and brother, William Polek.
