In Memory

James Black

James O. Black

Found Eternal Life October 21, 2020, age 73. Beloved Husband of 50 years to Mary. Loving son of Genevieve (the late Owen). An amazing father to Tim (Shari) and Ryan (Susan). Cherished grandpa of Gavin, Lauren, Mason, Winston and Hazel. Brother of the late Jacquelin.

Jim loved spending time with his wife, completing projects at their home, and reading books on the beach in Florida. They met each other at a mutual friend’s wedding and soon after Mary moved to California with him. They then returned to the Midwest so Jim could finish his MBA and start a family.

Jim enjoyed playing golf with his long-time golfing friends as well as fishing with his sons and Grandkids. He enjoyed watching, coaching, and playing sports with his sons.

He was a very patient and kind man as well as a devoted Catholic who enjoyed discussing the history of the faith which he believed in so strongly. He will be missed by so many people whose lives he impacted in a positive way. His kids and many others talk about what a great role model he was.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the UW Health Cancer Center at Pro Health Charity

Jim was a dear friend.  The "mutual friends"  that introduced them were me and my wife, Dianne.  They met at our wedding and a year later they were married.  We miss him so much and pray for him everyday.

So sorry to hear of Jim's passing but glad to know he'll spend eternity in heaven. I look forward to a reunion with him there. It was my pleasure knowing him and calling him my friend.

I did not know Jim well in high school, but remember fondly a wonderful visit with him unexpectedly at a Blackhawk College - Western Illinois baseball game our first year in college.  Rest in peace Jim, and may light perpetual shine upon you.       - Gerry Bebber

Jim was that quiet, good looking boy who was always present at Logan, Coolidge, and MHS—always kind and supportive.  May he always be with us in spirit.
