Jim has been my friend since grade school at Garfield. We were each other's Best Man at our weddings and stayed in touch through the years. Our families met many times in Chicago, between where he lived in Waukesha and where I lived in Indianapolis. I saw him for the final time last summer, when he was in an assisted living facility in Chicago. He had some memory issues but liked talking about our time in Moline. He died December 26, 2024, but I didn't find out until I tried to call him for his birthday on July 20. I will miss him but have plenty of good memories for comfort. He is survived by his daughter, Valerie.
I was stunned when I saw Didk's in memorium comment about Jim's passing last December (after I had posted birthday greetings the day before and asked if he would be at the 60th !). Jim and I were best friends at Garfield, but drifted apart in Junior High. He may be gone, but I will always cherish the memories of the grade school adventures we shared. RIP old friend.

Jim and I went to church and Sunday School together in the early days. I remember him fondly.
