Paul DeWaele

EAST MOLINE - Funeral services for Paul W. DeWaele, 62, East Moline, are 1:30 p.m. Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation is 4-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Paul died Tuesday, January 26, 2010, at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, Silvis. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. 

Paul was born August 6, 1947, in Moline, the son of Andrew and Helen Beckstrom DeWaele. He married Mary Lou Tucker on May 2, 1975, at Christ United Methodist Church, East Moline. He worked as a Optician at Cole Vision, Davenport. He enjoyed fishing and "loved to win." 

Survivors include his wife, Mary Lou; children, Lori Ann (Darryl) Blackburn, Bettendorf, Jim Kerr, East Moline, and Mike (Nancy) Kerr, East Moline; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Marcia (Richard) McKnight, Osceola, Iowa, and Ruth Ann Boisvert, Moline; a brother, Mike DeWaele, Moline; a special friend, Gene Guy, of Davenport; and a host of in-laws and great friends. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and a special brother-in-law, Larry Tucker.
