ALAN FRAZIER JENKINS

Alan Frazier Jenkins, 75, of Frisco, TX died peacefully on Dec 13, 2022 at Faith Presbyterian Hospice after a hard fought battle against acute leukemia and respiratory complications.

He was born in Mason City, IA on July 12, 1947 to Theodore William Jenkins and Ruth Jeanette Frazier Jenkins.  His early schooling was in Canada and Illinois where he graduated from Moline High School.  After a year at the local community college, he enlisted in the US Navy as the Viet Nam war heated up.  His duty stations were Corpus Christi, TX and Saigon, Viet Nam.  He was a proud veteran.  After his discharge he attended and graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL and started a long career in sales administration with several major construction equipment companies.

After his marriage to Nancy Holden they welcomed son Brian Christopher and daughter Jennifer Anne.  Following their divorce Alan moved to Denver, CO and met and married Ruth Ann Strawser Shaw and gained a stepson David Shaw.

Alan was a man of many talents and hobbies.  He was a self-taught guitar player for audiences large and small and was proud to own several Martin guitars.   His love of all sports made him the “go to guy” if you had a question about golf, ice hockey, football or baseball.  He hardly missed watching a Chicago Blackhawks hockey game and was a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox, the Chicago Bears (through thick and thin), the Denver Broncos and Ruth Ann’s beloved Michigan State Spartans.  He loved a good jigsaw puzzle and sorted pieces in an exceptionally neat and tidy manner.  From an early age he was a model railroad enthusiast and collected volumes of track, engines, cars and railroad memorabilia all of which will be donated to the Museum of the American Railroad TrainTopia Exhibit in Frisco, TX.

Ruth Ann and Alan loved to travel as they moved around the states and enjoyed cruising Alaska and Europe, driving the entire Route 66, many train trips, a yearly visit to Keeneland for the horse races and of course spending time with family and friends.

In his retirement he volunteered at the Railroad Museum and was a committed volunteer with the Frisco Family Services Food Pantry.  He and Ruth Ann were voted Volunteers of the Year and continue to support such a vital local charity.

He is survived by his wife and soul mate Ruth Ann Jenkins; children Brian Jenkins (Laura Oliver), Jennifer Alberts (Darby) and David Shaw (Rhea); grandchildren: Harper Oliver, Xenophon Oliver, Marina Alberts, Kai Alberts, Cole Alberts, Tallulah Alberts, Radley Shaw, Raphael DeSilva and Raelyn Woods; as well as brother Timothy Lee Jenkins (Julie) and a niece and nephew.  We will remember his quick wit, hearty laugh and love of a good beer.  So toast him and remember the good times.  He would love that.
