
Joseph "Joe" C. Versluys, 78, of Lynn Center, IL, passed away May 4, 2025, at home with his family by his side after a courageous battle with ALS.
Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Esterdahl Mortuary and Crematory, Ltd., Orion. Rosary will be at 2:30 p.m. before the visitation on Sunday at the funeral home. Funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 12, 2025, at Mary Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Orion, where he was a longtime member. Burial will follow at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Mary Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Orion or the ALS Association.
Joe was born on March 31, 1947, in Marshall, MN, the son of Julius and Leona Versluys. He graduated from Moline High School, class of 1965. He married Nancy Anderson on June 27, 1970, in Moline. Joe was a Vietnam War Army veteran, serving our country for two years. He was a member of VFW Post 5083, Geneseo. He enjoyed going on the Honor Flight in 2022.
He was employed at International Harvester, Case IH, for over 30 years. Later he worked for the Lynn Township. He previously volunteered for the Orion Food Pantry, as well as the church. Joe regularly attended bible study. Joe enjoyed working on classic cars and going to car shows. He was a member of a snowmobile club. Joe loved traveling throughout the United States and took a trip to Israel several years ago. He also enjoyed working in the garage and the yard with his buddy and grand-dog, Taz.
Survivors include his wife, Nancy; daughter, Jackie (Dennis) Riedesel, Andover; sons, Tony (Heather) Versluys, Orion, and Andy Versluys, Orion; granddaughter, Abby Versluys, Orion; sister Diane (Jim) Hunter, Andalusia; as well as many nieces and nephews.
