Jack Weime VIEW PROFILE

John "Jack" Alan Weime, 77, of Moline, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa.

Private graveside services were held at Moline Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

Jack was born on July 9, 1947, in Moline, Ill., the son of John and Barbara (Black) Weime. He graduated Class of 1965 from Moline High School and earned a bachelor's degree from St. Ambrose University. He went to work for Roadway Express in Rock Island, Ill., before retiring from John Deere Parts Distribution Center in Milan, Ill.

Jack was married to Barbara Strooband. He was deeply proud of his family. He was a remarkable gardener, talented musician, avid history buff and gifted storyteller who found joy in the ocean, good music, good food, and good company. He was a passionate supporter of the St. Louis Cardinals, Moline and Illinois basketball, Notre Dame football, and the Chicago Bears. Jack enjoyed the kindness of his neighbors.

Jack is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and John Hinnant of Arlington, Va.; daughter, Kelly Weime of Oaxaca, Mexico; son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas and Megan Weime of Iowa City, Iowa; grandchildren, Audrey, Stella, Charlie, Henry, Louis, and June; brother-in-law, Daniel Gunn, Moline, Ill.; sister-in-law, Kaye Vipond, Lake Wales, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother; brother, Donald Weime; sisters, Barbara Gunn and Cheryl Dubbs; and right-hand man, Ron Westerveldt.

Jack was not only a high school friend, but my brother-in-law for 20+ years while married to Bess' sister Barb. I know he will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Jack was a nice guy may he RIP.
