Rory was one of my first friends after my family moved to 36th Street.I liked Rory and our frienship and enjoyed watching him as an athlete because he was a natural at almost everything he participated in, but stayed humble even though he was obviously so talented. Saw ĥm on his route a few times, always with a smile on his face. My condolences regarding your loss. Know he is remembered well.

In fifth and sixth grade at Logan, every time we had to play Roosevelt in baseball and I knew that side arm slinger Rory DeBacker was going to pitch my day was a nervous wreck.  But until it is my time to go I will always have a fond memory of playing on the ball field behind Roosevelt and seeing that smiling side arm slinger on the mound.  Fondly Scott

A wonderful, gentle friend, golfing buddy and teammate; but a firece competitor. Neat, wry smile and subtle sense of humor. Loved you Rory. Thank you for some wonderful moments and memories. Obscure memory: summer after 9th grade, my mom dropping us off at Credit IIsland GC to play 36 holes, Gene McDaniel singing "100 Pounds of Clay" on the car radio.

Was a high school buddy of mine. Every Thursday was popcorn night with myself and Dick Waters at his house before big game on Friday. When I was playing ball would always come back and hang out with him. Rest in peace my freind.
