William Thomas (Tom) Tagtmeier was born to William and Wilmogene (Jones) Tagtmeier on April 29, 1947. Tom married Beth Pearson on August 10, 1968. He graduated with history and accounting degrees from Augustana College in 1969. Tom worked as an accountant until his retirement.
Survivors include his wife, son Eric (Amanda) Tagtmeier, grandson Jackson Tagtmeier, granddaughter Kennedy Tagtmeier, sisters-in-law Christine Pearson and Judy Tagtmeier, nieces Erika Ford and Ellen Tagtmeier, and nephews Tristan Pearson, John Tagtmeier, and Christopher Tagtmeier.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Steven Tagtmeier, and his son Curt Tagtmeier.

Tom grew up a couple of blocks away from me, so we spent some time together off and on starting with Thomas Jefferson Elementary School. As is often the case, we spent less time together by high school.
He is, however, a fond memory: a low-key, quiet kind of nice guy whom I am sorry to have lost track of over the years. I am happy to have known Tom and I hope that life was good to him. God bless Tom and his loved ones.

Tommy Tagtmeier. Yep, we grew up together in the same neighrhood and went all the way through gradeschool at Jefferson and then Coolidge and MHS, as did Stevie Steelandt who has also posted a memory. We played kick the can with the gang down by Whitebook's and Odell's and others. But what I've always remembered is this...I had one of those autograph books you took to gradeschool and had kids write something in it or just sign it and Tom for some odd reason wrote "Crime doesn't pay. Signed Tom Tagtmeier" That was it! I still have the little autograph book. I, too, lost track of him as time went by, but saw him a bit after he moved to Carl Jensen's neighborhood. He was a very nice person.

Tom and I walked to school together almost every day during high school I remember he had a very dry and wicked sense of humor. He was also a master of the understatement. I was sorry to read that he had a son that preceded him in death. I hope I never experience that. God bless his family and may he rest in peace.

My deepest and heartfelt condolences to Beth and Tom's family. Im so very sorry to read of Tom's passing. I grew up with Tom. He was a neighbor and our parents were also close friends. Many memories come back- sledding, neighborhood games, family get togethers, Jefferson, Coolidge, MHS and many more. Rest in peace my friend.
